CAMEO Raises $29,000 for Clark County’s Bridge The Gap, A community program to Help Foster Children
VANCOUVER, Wash., October 18, 2010 — A prom dress? A birthday cake?
A yearbook? Soccer shoes? Tutoring? These are everyday items we
associate with children and teenagers. Yet, many of Clark County
foster children find themselves without. Imagine a seventh grader not
able to bring any of her belongings to her new foster home; she starts
her new school with no appropriate clothes, no school supplies, not
even basic hygiene products. Enter Bridge the Gap. Bridge the Gap is
a community outreach program designed to enrich the lives of abused
and neglected children in Clark County, Washington.
Enter CAMEO. CAMEO, a local organization formed by women who care
about children, raised a total of $29,000, for Bridge the Gap at its
annual fundraising event held on September 30, 2010. This year, CAMEO
hosted its “Girls Night Out,” whereby more than 400 women gathered to
socialize, eat, dance, and shop via silent auction, with 100% of the
proceeds funding Bridge the Gap www.btgcc.org.
“This heartfelt support will go directly to help the Clark County
children in foster and adoptive care,” said Tauni Hemminger, one of
the founders of Bridge the Gap. “We will see hundreds of smiles and
sighs of relief, as these children receive clothing, lessons, and a
few extras. We thank you, CAMEO, for your generosity to help enhance
the stability, growth and success of these children!”
